How Galbrecht Eyecare Prioritizes Accessibility

Galbrecht Eyecare BlogFinding an eye care provider should be simple—both in terms of quality care and physically getting there. At Galbrecht Eyecare, accessibility is a priority. Whether you’re driving, taking public transportation, or walking, the journey to our office is easy and stress-free.

Our practice is conveniently located in the Walmart parking lot in Olathe, KS. If you’re driving, park near the Home & Pharmacy entrance—you’ll see our door just to the right.

Prefer public transportation? A bus stop is less than 0.1 miles from our location, making it an easy walk for those using local transit.

What to Expect as a New Patient

Visiting a new doctor for the first time can feel overwhelming, but we aim to make the process seamless. We ask all new patients to arrive 10–15 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork.

To speed up your check-in, please bring:

  • A driver’s license or photo ID
  • Medical and vision insurance cards (if applicable)
  • Your current glasses or contact lenses

If you’ve already completed your paperwork online, great! That means less time filling out forms and more time focusing on your eye health.

A Quick and Efficient Exam Process

Once your check-in is complete, you’ll move on to pre-testing, where we gather essential information about your vision and eye health.

This process typically involves:

  • Reading your current glasses prescription
  • An autorefractor IOP check with the air puff tonometer
  • A visual field test
  • Blood pressure measurement
  • Optional retinal photos (available for an additional $25 fee)

Most patients wait less than five minutes before being taken to an exam room, where a technician will set everything up for the doctor. The eye exam itself usually takes 10–15 minutes, though we’re always happy to take extra time for patients with more questions.

The Final Steps: From Exam to Prescription

After your exam, if you wear or are considering contact lenses, we’ll provide your first pair and go over proper care. Your finalized prescription will then be printed, allowing you to purchase eyewear wherever you prefer.

While we can’t direct you to any specific retailer due to our contract with Walmart, we do offer contact lens ordering directly through our office for those who prefer a convenient, in-house option.

For those purchasing contact lenses, orders typically arrive within 3–5 days. If you opt for a six-month or year-long supply, we offer direct shipping for added convenience—no extra trips necessary!

Plan for a Smooth Visit

We know your time is valuable. While the total exam process typically takes 30–45 minutes, we recommend setting aside up to an hour in case of delays or additional services. This way, you won’t feel rushed, and we can ensure all your vision needs are met without cutting corners.

Our goal is to make each step of your visit as easy and efficient as possible—from the moment you arrive to the moment you walk out with your new prescription. Whether you’re coming in for a routine check-up or a specialized eye exam, Galbrecht Eyecare is committed to providing an accessible, welcoming experience.
