Are You Looking for Contact Lenses You Can Wear at Night? Visit us In Olathe, KS
From the gym to work to dinner to drinks and beyond-NIGHT & DAY breathable contact lenses are FDA-approved for up to 30 nights and days of continuous wear!
That’s right-Stop the never-ending routine of removing and cleaning your contacts (for up to a month). Now you can wake up and go to sleep with the freedom of NIGHT & DAY lenses. NIGHT & DAY contact lenses are clinically proven to reduce symptoms of contact lens-related dryness and end-of-day discomfort.
The contact lens’ unique molecular structure has two distinct pathways that allow water (ions) and oxygen to pass through the lens. The lens can move freely on the eye and still has the highest oxygen transmissibility of any soft contact lens.
NIGHT & DAY contact lenses can be worn continuously for up to 30 nights and days. NIGHT & DAY allows up to 6x more oxygen to your eyes than the leading soft contact lenses.
Red eyes can be a sign that the eyes are not receiving enough oxygen. Insufficient oxygen may also compromise normal eye function and causes uncomfortable lens wear. Patients typically notice whiter eyes with NIGHT & DAY, which are made of a highly oxygen-transmissible material. So higher levels of oxygen reach the eye, even during sleep.
NIGHT & DAY contacts may be a good alternative to laser vision surgery for the millions of people who are not good candidates for the procedure or who are averse to it due to its high costs, invasiveness and non-reversibility. NIGHT & DAY contacts offer patients the same benefit of continuous, clear vision.
How are NIGHT & DAY contact lenses different?
NIGHT & DAY breathable contact lenses, made with a revolutionary silicone hydrogel material, transmit the highest oxygen of any available soft contact lens-up to 6x more than the leading soft contact lens-for the health of your eyes. Because NIGHT & DAY contacts are so breathable, they can be worn continuously for up to 30 nights, even while sleeping. No more fumbling around for glasses in the morning or having to deal with the usual hassles of soft contact lenses. With the ability to wear NIGHT & DAY breathable contact lenses for up to 30 nights continuously, NIGHT & DAY provides more freedom from the hassles of contact lens wear.
I read that NIGHT & DAY contacts are approved by the FDA. What does that mean?
NIGHT & DAY breathable contact lenses are approved by the FDA for daily wear and extended wear for up to 30 continuous nights. To obtain this approval, CIBA Vision conducted extensive clinical studies on NIGHT & DAY, making it one of the most thoroughly researched contact lenses in history. Results of a recent study show that NIGHT & DAY wearers after 2 years of monthly continuous wear actually showed improvement in most common contact lens symptoms.
Why create lenses designed to be worn while sleeping?
We know that patients consistently tell their eyecare practitioners that they want safe, convenient, around-the-clock vision. With the ability to wear NIGHT & DAY contacts continuously for up to 30 nights, NIGHT & DAY contacts can eliminate the daily hassles of inserting, removing and cleaning lenses. The lenses can be worn for up to 30 continuous nights and days, and can be easily discarded and replaced with a new pair. This breakthrough product delivers what many individuals want: the ability to have comfortable, clear vision around-the-clock in a convenient way that easily fits with their busy and unpredictable lifestyles.
I’ve been considering LASIK surgery-are NIGHT & DAY contacts a good alternative?
With the freedom to see for up to 30 nights continuously, NIGHT & DAY breathable contact lenses are also a good alternative to LASIK surgery for those who are not good candidates and/or who are reluctant to have the procedure due to its costs, invasiveness and irreversibility.
What is the indication for NIGHT & DAY contact lenses?
NIGHT & DAY soft contact lenses are indicated for the optical correction of refractive ametropia (myopia and hyperopia) in phakic or aphakic persons with non-diseased eyes with up to approximately 1.50 diopters of astigmatism
The lenses may be prescribed for daily wear or for extended wear for up to 30 nights of continuous wear, with removal for disposal, or cleaning and disinfection prior to reinsertion (as recommended by your eyecare professional).
How are NIGHT & DAY contacts designed?
NIGHT & DAY breathable contact lenses are made with a unique lens design for excellent visual acuity, comfort and fit. The back surface is designed to optimize the lens-cornea fitting relationship which impacts the lens’ wearing comfort, while the front surface design enables the lens to have extremely clear and crisp optics. Wearers of NIGHT & DAY give it high ratings for crisp, clear vision and comfort.
Do NIGHT & DAY contact lenses require any cleaning or disinfection?
NIGHT & DAY breathable contact lenses do not require daily cleaning or disinfection when worn continuously for up to 30 nights. However, contacts removed between replacement times must be cleaned and disinfected with a chemical, not heat, disinfection system before reinsertion. We recommend that you carefully follow the wear and replacement recommendations of your eyecare professional.
How is NIGHT & DAY packaged for purchase?
NIGHT & DAY contact lenses are sold in packages of six. For monthly replacement, two boxes provide 6 months of wear and four boxes provide a year of wear. As a prescriptive medical device, lenses can only be purchased with a valid prescription from a licensed eyecare professional. CIBA Vision does not sell its products directly to patients.
What is a silicone hydrogel?
Traditional soft contact lenses relied on the amount of water in them to transmit oxygen to the eye. NIGHT & DAY breathable contact lenses are made of a revolutionary, silicone hydrogel material. The unique molecular structure of this material has two distinct pathways that allow water and charged particles (ions) to pass through the lens. The second pathway is the silicone pathway, which transmits high amounts of oxygen through the lens. This enables the lens to move freely on the eye and to keep plenty of oxygen going through the lens.
What dimensions (parameters) are NIGHT & DAY available in?
NIGHT & DAY contacts are available in an 8.6mm and 8.4mm base curve with a 13.8mm diameter. The lens power range includes +0.25D to +6.00D in 0.25D steps, -0.25D to -8.00D in 0.25D steps and -8.50D to -10.00D in 0.50D steps.
How much do NIGHT & DAY lenses cost?
Pricing is set by those who sell the products directly to the patient rather than CIBA Vision. In general, NIGHT & DAY contacts are priced competitively with ordinary contact lenses (combined with lens care solutions) currently sold. The typical range is from US$250 to US$320 a year-or US$21 to US$27 a month.
Are NIGHT & DAY contact lenses OK to wear for up to 30 nights?
While individual wearing times may differ, both our clinical research and market experiences have shown that NIGHT & DAY breathable contact lenses can be worn for up to 30 continuous nights and days. The FDA has approved NIGHT & DAY for daily wear and extended wear for up to 30 continuous nights. Several million patients have worn NIGHT & DAY contact lenses worldwide with great success.
The benefits of NIGHT & DAY contacts include the highest oxygen transmissibility of any available soft contact lens for the health of your eyes, a surface treatment that helps to minimize deposit build-up and produces a highly wettable lens, which helps the contacts move well on the eye and enhances comfort. All of these factors help in the ability to wear NIGHT & DAY breathable contact lenses for up to 30 nights. Please follow your eye care practitioner’s recommendation on wearing time.
Will NIGHT & DAY help with dryness or discomfort from ordinary contact lenses?
NIGHT & DAY is clinically proven to reduce symptoms of contact lens-related dryness and end-of-day discomfort. Additionally, NIGHT & DAY wearers give NIGHT & DAY a high rating for comfort. These findings, combined with the convenience and freedom of around-the-clock vision, make NIGHT & DAY a desirable solution for many individuals in need of vision correction.
Do people experience red eyes after wearing these lenses?
Red eyes can be a sign that eyes are not receiving enough oxygen. With NIGHT & DAY breathable contact lenses, patients report that their eyes appear whiter. Clinical studies have also shown a decrease in measurable redness. Because NIGHT & DAY contact lenses are made of a high oxygen-transmissible material, more oxygen than traditional soft contact lenses reaches the eye, even during sleep. In research studies, NIGHT & DAY wearers experienced less limbal redness than people who wear traditional contacts. After wearing NIGHT & DAY breathable contact lenses, irritated, red eyes can be a thing of the past.
My eyecare practitioner has recommended a follow-up visit. Why?
It is always recommended that you see your eyecare practitioner after being fit with any new contact lens. Your eyecare practitioner will advise you of the follow-up schedule that he or she prefers.
Why is it important for oxygen and water to pass through the lens to the eye?
Oxygen is essential for corneal health. Insufficient oxygen compromises normal eye function and may cause corneal swelling. Insufficient oxygen may also lead to irritated, red eyes and uncomfortable lens wear. While minimal corneal swelling is common during sleep (even in people who do not wear contact lenses), NIGHT & DAY breathable contact lenses offer the highest oxygen transmissibility available in soft contact lenses to minimize corneal swelling. Clinical studies have shown that the overnight corneal swelling experienced with NIGHT & DAY contact lenses is similar to wearing no lens at all.
NIGHT & DAY contact lenses supply sufficient oxygen to the cornea, even during sleep. In fact, they provide up to six times more oxygen to the eye than ordinary soft contact lenses and 40 percent more oxygen transmissibility than the minimum level recognized by independent researchers for overnight wear of contact lenses. In research studies, users wearing NIGHT & DAY lenses experienced minimal corneal swelling similar to those wearing no lens at all and significantly less eye redness than is typically seen with soft contact lens wear.
What makes these lenses different from traditional contact lenses?
NIGHT & DAY breathable contacts are different from most soft contacts in that they can be worn for up to 30 nights and days of continuous wear. Additionally, they have the highest oxygen transmissibility of any available soft contact lens. NIGHT & DAY lenses provide up to six times more oxygen to the eye than ordinary soft contact lenses.
What are other possible side effects of wearing contact lenses?
Side effects can occur with any soft contact lens. An inflammation of the cornea called infiltrative keratitis is a potential side effect. During the one year U.S. study about 5% of the 1,300 eyes experienced this type of side effect. Other, less serious side effects were conjunctivitis and lid irritation or discomfort while wearing the lenses, including dryness of the eye and mild burning or stinging.
How was NIGHT & DAY developed?
NIGHT & DAY is the result of an international collaboration involving scientists from CIBA Vision, as well as researchers from the Cooperative Research Centre for Eye Research and Technology (CRCERT) in Australia and Novartis in Switzerland. CIBA Vision brought together the best minds from a range of disciplines: polymer chemists, academic researchers, material scientists, process engineers, physicists, clinicians and marketing and regulatory specialists work together from laboratories and research centers in Atlanta, Switzerland and Australia.
Was research done on NIGHT & DAY contact lenses?
NIGHT & DAY lenses are the most thoroughly researched contact lenses in history. CIBA Vision amassed more than 2,000 patient years of clinical study prior to its introduction into the United States. NIGHT & DAY has FDA approval for up to 30 nights of continuous wear. Our U.S. FDA registration trial involved 1,395 patients who were seen at 59 different investigational locations throughout the country.
What were the results of the clinical study?
Our U.S. clinical study showed that NIGHT & DAY lenses can be worn safely for up to 30 continuous nights and days. In addition, since 1999 millions of patients worldwide have worn NIGHT & DAY for up to 30 continuous nights and days. Both our clinical research and market experiences have shown that NIGHT & DAY can be worn safely. As with all contact lenses, following instructions and seeking routine eye care from an eyecare practitioner are important aspects of successful contact lens wear.
What is Dk? What is Dk/t?
Oxygen permeability (Dk) refers to the lens material’s ability to have oxygen dissolve in it. Oxygen transmissibility (Dk/t), a more relevant measure for contact lenses, takes into account the material’s oxygen permeability and its thickness, factors that affect the amount of oxygen that can pass through the lens to the eye.
Why is NIGHT & DAY a good alternative to LASIK?
Many patients are not good candidates for LASIK surgery because of the shape of their eyes, the size of their pupils or even because of the amount of vision correction they need. Many individuals also are reluctant to have the surgery due to its high costs, invasiveness and irreversibility.
NIGHT & DAY contact lenses can also provide individuals comfortable, around-the-clock, clear vision, but unlike laser vision surgery, it is a reversible, non-invasive, less costly option.
